| | For the first time since the A-League's inception, Sydney FC have won their first two games. And they thoroughly deserved to pick up the points against Adelaide United, who were under the cosh for much of the game, and finally conceded with thirteen minutes to go.
Vitezslav Lavicka made only one change to the side that had started against North Queensland, with Steve Corica returning to the starting line-up in place of Brendan Gan. For Adelaide, it was an unchanged team.
Byun Sung-Hwan and Travis Dodd had early half-chances at either end in a scrappy beginning. On 11 minutes, a good cross from Alex Brosque on the left was met by the head of John Aloisi, but Eugene Galekovic saved without too much difficulty.

| | For the first time since 2006/07, Sydney FC kicked off their A-League season with a win. Competition newcomers North Queensland Fury fought back well after conceding two early goals, but were undone by a moment's impetuosity from goalkeeper Paul Henderson. The only surprise in Sydney's line-up was the omission of Steve Corica, whose fitness was apparently a concern for coach Vitezslav Lavicka. There were two late arrivals in the Fury line-up, with Japanese fullback Kajiro Kaimoto starting on the right, and Antillean Dyron Daal partnering marquee man Robbie Fowler up front. I did urgent security patching on the forums, long overdue, took a few minutes longer than I expected, but it worked and thats what counts. Some people have had issues getting the new forum to load, getting the frames but no fourm, this is most commonly because they are using a link which takes them direct to the old forum. The fix is to delete your existing bookmark, navigate to the forum using either of the forum menu items (up top or on the left) and then create a new bookmark. That said, things will probably change again as I upgade the Site again and reintegrate the forum with the rest of the site, that should happen sometime in the next week. |

With the scrapping of the preseason cup and the arrival of a new coach, this year's off-season is shaping up to be rather different to previous years. What we know: So far four games have been arranged: Wed 13 May Macarthur Rams Lynwood Park (St Helens Park) 7.30pm Wed 20 May Bankstown City Jensen Park (Sefton) 7.30pm Wed 23 May Sydney Tigers Lambert Park 7:30pm Wed 3 June Northern Tigers Mills Park (Asquith) 7.30pm Tue 9 June Penrith Nepean Cook Park 7.00pm Tue 16 June Manly United Cromer Park (Dee Why) 7.00pm Tue 23 June Sydney United Syd Utd Sports Centre (Edensor Park) 7.30pm Wed 1 July Sutherland Sharks Seymour Shaw Park (Miranda) 7.30pm The FFA has mandated that we play a friendly against the NQ Fury in Sydney - No date has been set yet If you're even remotely interested in what our new coach has to offer, how our squad is coming together, or even just in catching up with fellow fans, these games are a must, the standard entrance fee seems to be $5, which means you'll also be putting some much needed funds into the coffers of some very deserving clubs. What we've heard: Coach Lavicka wants a pre-season game every week till the season starts. The club is in negotiations with with "EPL or EPL equivalent teams" for a high-profile friendly. |

| | In a match which featured many goals and plenty of drama, Sydney FC ran out 5-2 winners over Dave Mitchell’s Perth side.
Sydney FC made only one enforced change following their 3-2 win over the Mariners last week, with Mitchell Prentice replacing the suspended Stuart Musialik in midfield. For the visitors, David Tarka returned to the starting eleven in place of young Hayden Doyle.
The game began with a Sydney goal out of nowhere. Dino Djulbic, under some pressure on the right, prodded a gentle back-pass in the direction of Tarka. It was quickly intercepted by Alex Brosque, who surged on into the area, manoeuvred himself between Tarka and Jamie Coyne, and finished neatly with his right foot.
