somebody wrote that he hopes England will fail at the QF - if England reaches QF that would be success
I hope England and USA fail because we are competing for 2018/22 against both these (and if England did win it then we as Aussies would NEVER hear the end of it)
and I hope Germany fail when we play them

I definitely have to say England, I would love to see them being knocked out at the first knockout round. Most of the football media that you find on the internet are English. They get right on my nerves with borderline racist headlines and all they could talk about 1966, whenever an England are not playing a game. Imagine if Australia faces England in the first knockout round - I for one would be

Well, to reverse the G/D and then potential HTH issues, they need to beat the Saffers by quite a few (not unlikely) and have Uruguay beat Mexico very comfortably, or have Mexico thrash Uruguay...
Hopefully the Saffers will steal a draw or even a win and put the whole thing to bed though.

Sure is going to be exciting switching back and forth between the games. I love simultaneous final games!

Mexico is possibly the best non South American or European country to take the World Cup. From how things look at present, I very much doubt an Asian or African team would get anywhere near the quarters, let alone the final.

I think that at this world cup the best non Euro or Sth American team is the USA. In the long term though, I suspect and hope it will be Australia.

So to recap, Australia has as many won as many games as Italy, France and England combined... Thats none too shabby.
What a fantastic tournament for neutrals, what a shake up.

What's guaranteed now is that one of Uruguay, Korea, USA or Ghana must now make the semi-finals. Bizarrely the second round is seeing some of the traditional "powerhouses" play each other. I wouldn't be shocked if Uruguay made the final. Throw in the Kiwis going out undefeated, the worst Japanese team in history suddenly playing like Brazil and France and Italy (and almost England) completely embarrass themselves, I'd say this tournament is ticking along very nicely.

And this record remains. Seriously, if someone had predicted that figure pre-tournament they've have been locked up in a straight jacket.
